Karwa Chauth fast - for husband's long life!

Some drink for health of others. The Hindu women starve for health of husbands. I fail to understand how this prolongs husband's life. Now some husbands also observe fast on this day for health of wife. If this were really a way to give longer life to somebody, why not fast for somebody in death bed.

Karina does not believe in starving to show love to her husband. This is indeed sensible.

    This is matter of self-beliefs, beside only Hindu ladies fast for their husbands' long life. Karina is now Karina Begum.

    Though this festival is unknown to South India, I feel it's another of many such festivals with baseless beliefs.

    There is no festival or even God that has a scientific base but I have seen people bringing gods and temples in all their talks and work.There is no need to remind them that they never forget to say something nice ahead of all others on such occasions.

    That exactly is the point, no one has to say what is baseless belief or what is right, let people decide what is good or bad for them. no one is allowed to heart others esp while they know nothing about a particular occasion. I hope I cleared the point here.

    Actually, there is no scientific basis in most of festivals. But still these give opportunity for rejoicing and social interaction. We need oppose only the harmful activities. There is no harm in fast. If women believe that they observe fast for long life of their husbands, there is no issue. similarly, some husbands also these days observe fast. Let them also. No issue. Kareena does not want to starve to show love. So let he eat to her satisfaction. No issue again.

    Karina changed her suname as what I mean to say she becomes Kareena Kapoor to Kareena Kapoor Khan, as she does not have to do this, most married woman, do this, in Odisha, this festival is not there, but instead, in they used to do Bali Tritiya, a fast from dawn to next days's dawn.
