    This is just the opposite. In India, generally groom rides the horse to bride's house. Very interesting thread.

    You are correct. According to our Bengali culture, bride and groom would meet in the wedding hall. Bride will be lifted by her brothers, uncles and father. They would hold her till the wedding is complete. Her face will be closed by a big leaf during the whole marriage procedure.

    You are correct. According to our Bengali culture, bride and groom would meet in the wedding hall. Bride will be lifted by her brothers, uncles and father. They would hold her till the wedding is complete. Her face will be closed by a big leaf during the whole marriage procedure.


    There is a similar custom in my state but with little difference. The bride will be carried in a basket by her maternal uncle the place where the ceremony takes place. Then the bride comes out of the basket and sits opposite to the groom. They will be separated by a screen till the Mangal Sutra Dharan.
