There is a tendency to seek governors' resignation when the party in power at center changes. It may be natural desire of party in power at the center to seek change. But what is the constitutional propriety. Should a governor not be allowed to complete the tenure in accordance with constitution. Also would it not be proper to amend law so as the governor's tenure ends with change in central govt.

I personally feel that once appointed Governorsshd be allowed to continue with their term no matter what...But a bad precedent has been set by the Congress party where they were always manipulating the system to their advantage and now NDA too is bent on continuing that,

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

The trend of changing the governors as and when a new Government comes is not advisable. But this trend of choosing the Governors who are supportive to the party at the Centre is started by UPA. The present NDA is following the suite.
I think once change of guard at center, appointed governors of previous government should resign. Today's Indian express poll results in this subject shows whopping 93% in favor of it. Especially, some of governors are former ministers and chief minsiter of Congress government.

A Governor's tenure is 5 years. Irrespective of the ruling party, the tenure remains unchanged.

This also goes to show the kind of political atmosphere that Congress has created over the years, the sychopancy, arrogance and manipulation were all part of it and the general public knows all about it and favors the removal of all Congress appointed governors since they will not function in a fair manner ...

All the governors, who were asked to resign are the hardcore supporters of Congress like Sheila Dixit. How can one expect they would function in a fair manner? Their presence will lead to chaos.

The trend of changing Governors was not started by Congress or UPA. It was started by Janata govt, in 1977 and has continued since. The Governors are appointed by the party in power and reflect their ideology in all matters. Therefore it is alright for them to be replaced if their is a change of party coming to power at the Center. Governors should have resigned on their own. Also they will be replaced by another set of equally sychophant, arrogant and manipulative set of politicians but of a different ideology. Governors like the President do not act on their own but do so on the advise of the Government, so fair or unfair is not their choice.

The tenure of Governors should be coterminus with that of the Central Government. If same party comes to power it can reappoint the governors they want.

Perhaps the central government doesn't have faith in the UPA appointed governors.
