True..but even many sensible children are known to give in to peer pressure and indulge in undesirable activities, have girlfriend or boyfriend etc. So it is crucial that parents do show respect to them and trust them, but at the same time also keep checking on what they do, whom they hang out with etc,

Parents are afraid about their children activity in Facebook because they can easily have friendship with other members who are not known by them. It is the time for both of them to discuss with each other and come to an decision. I saw, some people are available for the whole day in Facebook. That is also one of the reason for parents to get afraid about their children.

Getting afraid of their child's participation in Facebook is not the solution. Parents should have the patience of convincing the child about the pros and cons of Facebook indulgence. Then the parents should also explain the limits and boundaries of exposing of the personal details. Then the parents should keep a constant watch if the child is following their instructions. If the child follows its OK. Otherwise the parents should go for an appropriate action.
