    It's not the telecom companies but the retailers are more responsible for fake IDs. Some of them do it knowingly and some without knowing or verifying properly. Once the ID is submitted the roles of the company is to verify through the phone.

    Telecom companies verifying the address details through the phone. There they are making the mistake. They should verify the information directly by sending a person to the address and verify. But this process is happening only in post paid schemes. Mostly the persons who create fake ids using the mobile phone giving the address details of the old house address whey they lived earlier.

    Yes, giving out too much info about oneself is not a good idea...but people do that a lot FB is famous for this and hence a hit.
