The govt. employees have been directed not to use any mail service like g.mail, yahoo, mail and use only the one provided by government. There are also restrictions on social sites. so fat this may be okay. But now there is suggestion by some  RSS / BJP functionary that entire foreign based mail services and social sites like Facebook be banned. This is indeed ridiculous. Even govt. department use Twitter/ Facebook. Moreover such move will result in regimentation and autocratic regime.

This is during the official time only, what a government worker does in his free time is personal matter. It goes in private sector too, most companies do not allow any other service but companies domain only where everyone has an official account.

Any restriction on govt. employees is good enough. No issue with that. The entire conduct of a govt. employee during and after office hours is subject to government conduct rules or codes.  But the suggestion to ban use of Google, yahoo mail and other sites by others as suggested by the RSS leader (see the link) cannot be appreciated.

I think this is completely okay to not use such services during working hours. But during the after office hours the govt. has no say.

In fact such a practice is there in most private companies where you cannot use any social sites, not just here but even in foreign countries,,,,This is one way of making work place more efficient , given the fact that government offices in India are probably the most inefficient as things stand now.

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

It is OK in case of government employees at their workplace. However, here the concern is regarding the suggestion to ban ALL INDIAN CITIZENS from using Google, Yahoo, and other social sites.  Such a suggestion cannot be welcomed.

This has not been suggested or sounds practical.

The suggestion is by a BJP/ RSS leader. This is clear from the link given in my initial post.in this thread.

An outdated suggestion it is, whosoever suggested. Those who want to remain in the old stone age will not suggest such a thing.

Using Facebook, Twitter and such similar sites along with email sites is already banned in major corporate companies and  those websites are blocked. This is because most people use office time to indulge in such activities due to which their performance and productivity suffers. Banning use of these websites is totally not uncalled for neither it is autocratic. These websites are meant for personal purposes and should not be used during office time.

A blanket ban on social sites is a deed of foolishness. First of all owing to such ban many top leaders even in the ruling party will feel the pinch. Because every leader worth his salt use twitter for expressing and for airing their views. With this shortsighted view BJP or RSS will be pulling the carpet on which they are standing.
