These days it is fashionable to blame western dress, culture and way of life for rape, molestation and ill treatment of women.  But is western culture any way responsible for stripping and torturing the rural woman. Rather is this not ancient Hindu Indian culture?

It is mentality that is hurting everything not Hindu culture, Hindu culture does not say about this, but it is people with bad minds creating troubles.

Stripping and torturing is not just restricted Indian culture. You can see stripping and torturing in other cultures too.

This is a most frequent scenario now in rural India and it is condemnable and inhuman act. BUT we can not attribute it to ancient Hindu culture as the author of this thread is so often inclined to do so recently. In ancient India, enemies and people who committed horrible crimes were punished with such acts. Today in the modern India, this act is simply a product of aggression that arises from the need to maintain superiority over others. How do you propose to explain the public lynching and stoning of women accused of adultery in Islamic culture even today in the 21st century?

It is a cruelty against humanity experienced by helpless people in the remote villages, and needs to be condemned. It is an uncultured activity of some perverted minds, but cannot be attributed to Hindu or Indian culture.

Perverted minds are there everywhere. I fail to understand why only Hinduism or Indian culture is singled out as if Indian culture is a haven for perverts, monsters and devils.

This is just excuse to hide their crime and all that. Yes now these things are not rare, too sad that it is becoming normal thing in our culture.

Stripping and torturing women is not there in other cultures?

I guess it is there, almost everywhere.

That's  the reality.  So, what I say is singling out Hinduism or Indian culture for stripping and torturing women is not proper.

I would rather dub it as 'perverse culture' without naming any specific culture being responsible for it. The figures on the stone panels of a famous temple in Orissa should make us ponder if things were as ideal as we believe in ancient times in India!
