Ultimately it is the personal choice and preference that has to be seen. These preferences and choices vary from person to person. Whatsapp is interesting. But again Videos and photos are not my cup of tea.

In addition to this "blocking mode" on device can control from spam numbers. If FB app is installed on any device, then FB will definitely know the phone number.

Anyway you look at it, I personally feel that disclosing the Mobile No in any social website is not a safe proposition.

Absolute secrecy is not possible when you are on the move.  Most users on facebook go on updating their status- giving location and programme of journey and photos/ selfies wherever they go. This definitely reduces security.  Hence the details on Facebook needbe very generic and no exact locations and programmes of visit need be given.  Althoigh I have linked my phone to Facebook, Only my address, date of birth, name can be known. These are even otherwise not secret.  For sending personal messages,  email is best.

True. For sending personal messages E Mail is best.. I know many FB users post Selfies and the details about almost all activities are posted. This is enough for Hackers to abuse.

Hackers wish to use my financial details and resources, if I am broke, I am free from all problems. As for details of a person I can tell each and every detail of any one using his real name on internet. It does not include bank details in all cases.

If the Hackers look for my  financial details and resources they are in for a great disappointment.

Giving your mobile number does not necessarily mean giving out financial details...Besides your password for ATM debit cards most banks now also have a security code which you need to type on a different window, and is given to you at your branch by the bank and unless you enter that you cannot complete your transaction online..

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!
