I agree. The original intention was the Indian Peace Keeping Force would not be involved in large scale military operations.

But the agreement was violated. ( I came to know later) IPKF engaged the LTTE in a series of battles. There was serious outrage in the SriLankan Government. Ultimately IPKF was forced to withdraw.

To sum up, any unsolicited interference in the other countries by India is not desirable.

I like the observation of @ Chinmoy' that It has been the single misfortune of the people of Asia ,especially S.E Asia that its leader never rise above their petty egos and mutual suspicion to forge constructive relationship s unlike leaders of Europe' . What is his suggestion for the leaders of Pakistan and India to resolve the Kashmir dispute? keeping their mutual suspicion and petty egos aside. I am asking this genuinely to understand and not otherwise.

Perhaps the leaders of India and Pakistan are above suggestions  or not worh with regards to Kashmir dispute.

It is best to respect sovereignty of Nepal. They were Hindu nation. This was the choice of king as soverign head. Times have changed and people have given unto them a secularconstitution. This is not palatable to many.  Nepal is our very close neighbor and we have age old ties with them. It is necessary to safeguard our interests also. But wer have to be very careful and be tactful. Otherwise other countries nay gain advantage.

The link says Gautam the foreign minister blamed the government of India, . Further he said that all border check posts along Indian border have closed down and the Indian government has fully supported the blockade.

In this scenario as you said India should exercise utmost caution and tact.

Indian politicians themselves are not united but they are to be blamed for India's downfall in every sector including relations with neighboring countries. Unless we have unity as far national interests are concerned we should not expect other countries to respect us in any field. Our politicians can go to any length showing each other down and that is one of the reasons government fails to concentrate on burning issues. And I must say no party is exception in this matter.

On the whole our policy makers should exercise  diplomacy and tactics so that our relations with neighboring countries are not strained. The best policy, in my view is to maintain neutrality in this regard.

The crisis in Nepal is deepening. India has warned Nepal against playing Chuna card.
