It is a security measure. Facebook security product manager Melissa Luu-Van says that you should be prepared to die: For every online account you have, you should make sure someone can access it if you're gone.

In this era of technology, one spends a considerable amount of time of his life being active on social platform. People indulge more in facebook talk than on face to face talk. And your account becomes like your other assets because you have invested your  time and emotions in it. It surely can be considered as a legacy that you can pass on.

social media is slowing becoming a major part of our life. so this article is pretty interesting in that context. 

but the question do we really want to see updates about the person who is no more. Should we not let them rest in peace instead of "liking" "commenting" and "posting" about them. Do we need them "virtually" alive?
