Now, this time joined the bandwagon of writers and artists who are protesting against the growing intolerance towards attack on rationalism, reasoning and Science.

P.M. Bhargava a scientist, writer administrator is returning the Padma Bhushan. This growing protests are really a challenge for the ruling party. What the ruling party is going to do?

Only time will decide.

These writers and scientists are doing this only to gain their name in media. Where these people have gone when Sikhs were killed and emergency was imposed in India. Many such incidents have happened in the past but no one came forward. Now what is happening in the states is under the control of state government, center government is not responsible for that. But these secular people only have to protest against Modi government.

Sorry. I beg to differ with you. Unlike writes protest against communal killings, Scientists protest against science and rationalism is entire ly different The ruling party on one side stresses on Digitized India, And on the side opposing Scientists protests. Is it not contradicting its own policies ?

Intolerance towards science will ruin the country. In my opinion there is a sense and purpose behind this protest.

Scientists are broadminded persons. They think freely and think about new things. But first writers then film makers and now scientists follow the same procedure looks doubtful.

Anupam Kher has twitted on this issue.

I read the link article published in Indian express. P.M Bhargava, an eminent scientist returned his Padma Bhushan. Bhargava was the founder director of the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology. There are no political affiliations. No need to doubt. Additionally, a country where Science and Technology are given Top priority, Economis development will be there. There won't be any unemployment problem. Right now India needs a high degree of Scientific development.

The writers are also protesting against killing of rationalists like Pansare and Damolkar.  The issue of Dadri killing is additional. Moreover, these protests are not against Modi as such. These are against rise of communal and fascist elements, irrationality and killing of writers. others. whenever some agitation takes place, it makes no sense to say why they did not do on earlier occasion.

Scientists are the part of an independent body. P.M. Bhargava was the founder of the the founder of Body. The scientists are not protesting against Modi. They are reminding him that, Modi was all along professing for Digital India. So he should ensure more scientific development in tune with his Policies

Earlier in another thread related to writers' returning awards I maintained an opinion that there is no wrong in expressing their protest. If they did not do earlier does not mean, they have to be mum now. Yes, if they have any agenda against the government and doing so then it's wrong but at every point if we start asking where were these personalities then it is quite unfair too. Now, the film-maker Dibakar Banerjee was born in 1969 and the Sikh riot took place in 1984, then, do you feel asking such questions make any sense?

Now thethe fight has been divided into two parts. One those who are against government and other who are supporting government. Let us wait and watch what will be the out come of this fight.

The link says about highly respected film Artist like Shyam Benegai and Mathur Bhandarkar are opposing the return of Awards is insulting the people who had seen the movies of these Artists. Both Madhur Bhandarkar refused to surrender their Awards.

But all the while Scientists are protesting against the way in which Science and Rationality are being looked down.

I say for developing the Nation Scientific development is mandatory. And Modi was also professing the need of digitisation  for development. Without scientific development no country can progress.
