Everyone who is seeing his position going down in politics is supporting Kanahiya. He's been invited by mamata Banerjee to campaign against BJP in WB's coming election. Everyone is out praising him. I think now he will be star campaigner in all forthcoming elections. A possible threat for crown prince as he will lose his ground if opposition decided to fight under Kanhaiya's leadership.

Although I feel that Kanhaiya is a victim of bad publicity and false case based on doctored video, I am surprised at the wide coverage given to him. I hope ultimately he will be proved innocent.

I feel the wide coverage of the student leader will ultimately lead him to have a political career and his Phd will finally take a back seat. Youths must have their opinion and will certainly have an ideology but the moment they start getting into full-fledged national politics then they actually loose their focus.

Politics is much more lucrative than any job he can hope to get after his PHd and he knows that pretty well.. his speech and his body language clearly suggests that he is not as innocent nor inorant of facts as he make it seem or looks, or else he would not call for a press conference immediately after his bail and abuse the central government and Modi and also make references to himself as a very humble and patriotic person...Either way let us hope that everything comes out after the investigation !

No activist who opposed US participation in Vietnam war, and there were huge protests, was convicted. How weakness of Hinduism comes out is not clear. The ruling ideology is trying to spread its tentacles in all fields including education institutes and JNU is a prize catch. Foul play cannot be ruled out to malign left wing students. I also agree that anti Indian slogan raisers should be punished but let us not draw biased conclusions till matter is more clear.

Example of US students agitation against Vietnam war is not a relevant example here, for your information it was the America that had launched a long, destructive war against the tiny country of Vietnam, which the US students who, tried and disgusted of losing their brothers, fathers and those who did come back alive were mental wrecks, thanks to Agent Orange, that they no longer related with their families. What is happening at JNU is that the students are supporting a country which has been thirsting for our blood right from its formation. So do not compare the two events, understand the difference between them first.

The example of US was given in a particular context to a member's observation. You are butting in and extending it totally out of context. Your observations are not relevant in the context the original reference was made. Better luck next time.

yes it is right that he is not innocent. Some manipulation in this case is possible but he he is not innocent.

It is true that Pro Kashmir slogans   were raised in JNU campus. But the police arrested only the innocent who never raised such slogans. It is natural that the Kashmir azaadi slogans would be raised by Kashniri- student or outsider. But the police are believed to have been directed not to even touch any Kashmiri in view of  BJP- PDP liaison in the state of J & K.

Exactly. The plot was to kill two birds with one stone. But they have got bitterly exposed and now are crying foul. One must credit them though they have given to the country a new leader of great maturity

I guess we Indians should be thanking our stars at having such future leaders of great maturity ..

After his release from Jail on bail, Kanhaiya Kumar the Union President of JNU made a one hour long speech on the University campus. Here he pledged his commitment to fighting for freedom not from but from India. During his speech, he didn't forget to criticize Modi and BJP government.

At present he is basking in the immense attention he has received suddenly so he may find it difficult to handle himself with maturity. Thus, it's too early to predict.

Either way , good and practical study for political science students to know how politiking works in India.. Criticise the government, make an inflammatory speech and deny it all , make accusations right ,left and center , go to jail, come out and then become a media and opposition built hero , who starts preaching India what to do and the nation listens to him with rapt attention lest they miss something important, that this mature leader of stature utters !
