Inquilab Zindabad, Jai Hind and Bharat Mata ki Jai were the slogans during independence movement. But what is bharat mata (mother India). why some people are opposed to the concept of Bharat Mata. Is chanting slogan- Bharat Mata ki Jai- the only way to express patriotism. Here is link giving history of the Bharat Mata concept.

First of all, let me thank you for providing a good link that enabled me to know all about Bharat Mata and the related History.

In this regard, I'm of the firm opinion that how our Sinister Politicians are making noise on a thing which is of no importance

This Country needs much more than Bharat Mata. There are more issues to think and act like economic condition and how to boost it for the development of this Country.

Correct, " Bharat Mata ki Jai " is a mere slogan and there are pressing needs of the nation than discuss this topic.Talking of Owaisi, I have  seen his videos on YouTube and he has always defended India in interviews in Pakistan.

So the English And Americans should also learn from our senior members and scrap all rubbish like

The UK - "God and my right" and "Shamed be he who thinks ill of it".

United States- In God We Trust (official) Long Live America

have a look

Should we scrap all oath taking ceremonies too which are nothing but formalities?

Kindly answer my query that will be beneficial for all of us.

By the way people who think there is lot to be done yet my question is what is stopping them or what they have done so far?

A Nation that provides food and shelter to the common man is the real nation.A peoples' nation.  Other things are irrelevant.

It's not the nation that provides food or shelter but it's the duty of citizens' to make enough efforts to make a nation. If the citizens sit inside their homes expecting everything to drop inside their mouths or even destroying the property they have no claim to have a right on anything. We know our rights but we do not know our duties. A common man needs to give to the nation before demanding anything in return.

The symbols and tokens are also significant. We need take a balanced view.  The real patriotism is loving people of the land and doing our job honestly. But we also need to express our feelings especially on certain national festivals. National flag, national anthem and slogans like Jai Hind, Bharat mata ki jai are way of our expression of patriotism. These also cannot be under estimated. But we not get too far. If somebody is not comfortable in saying Bharat mata ki jai, he is not necessarily a traitor. He may also be a patriot. There are diverse ways of expressing patriotism. we need not thrust any particular slogan or symbol on everyone.

As long as we remain scrupulously committed to the lofty ideals of our constitution and live up to these cherished values it hardly matters if one chants it or not in order to prove our patriotism. Our energies could be better harnessed to make a progressive and prosperous India. To a famished,Ill ,illiterate Indian it sounds more of a cruel joke!!

first of all BHARAT MATA KI JAI. I am an Indian and I feel proud to say BHARAT MATA KI JAI. i think we cannot force someone to say BHARAT MATA KI JAI, it comes from inside not by forcing.

It's all about our faith in these values and not necessarily meant chanting about loud in public but if one hears people talking against these in the name of freedom of expression it becomes necessary to tell them the importance of such slogans.

True..there are many things that are not defined in the constitution but one as a true patriot and a citizen, is expected to say it and not just for  the sake of it, but say it from heart as you truly mean it. As far as as the likes of Owaisis are concerned, what can one expect from the descendants of the Razakars whose sole aim was destruction of our country, it is in their blood. What we need now is not lock ourselves into a battle of words but ignore him for now but keep a look out on what his real intentions are and not let him get powerful.
