It is a recent study at the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago.

It shows that any pleasant scent, even those from candles and oils, can suppress appetite. Alan Hirsch, M.D., neurological director at the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago, says many of his studies show that aroma can play a role in weight loss.

He Says ..
* Sniff your food before you eat it, and chew thoroughly. This helps release odor molecules, which fools the brain into thinking you're full.

* Eat your food hot; this also releases odor molecules.

* Make your own sprinkles using noncaloric, sodium-free spices such as chili powder. Theoretically, these should have the same effect, Hirsch says.

* Utilize aromatherapy. Other studies have shown that inhaling green-apple and peppermint scents suppresses hunger.


In the experiment on 3,193 people (84 percent of them women), participants were told to sniff green apple, banana or peppermint scents.Result was 5-pound weight loss per month -30 pounds during the six-month study.

Yes Kumaresh, I find lots of people going for aromatherapy these days and I know of several cases where it has done wonders.If smelling bananas can cure obesity, where shall I find it to eat!

During a lecture I also had heard that making the study room pleasant smelling will make study easy !!!
