Protect your children in the Sun

* Keep away your infants and babies
under 1 year of age from direct sunlight. You must keep them in covered strollers, under umbrellas or in the shade.
* You must not allow your children to get out during the peak hours of sunlight between 11 am to 4 pm. However if they go out during those hours, be vigilant to clothe them in long dresses, sunglasses and wide hats that protect their face, neck and ears.
* You must apply sunscreen (SPF 15) to your children, 15 to 30 minutes before their exposure to the Sun. However you must not put sunscreen around your child's eyes.
* You should never use baby oil as a moisturizer for your child. The baby oil will make the effect of sun stronger and cause your child to burn faster.
* Don't forget to apply lip balm (SPF 15) before you let your child out in the Sun.
* When you let your child play near water, make sure that they wear a waterproof sunscreen and dry clothes. Because if they happen to play in water, wet clothing can losen up to half of its UV protection.
* If your kids go swimming, you must ensure that they have waterproof sunglasses formulated for 80 minutes under water.
* You should not neglect the sun protection for your children during cloudy days. 80% of the UV rays penetrate during the cloudy days also.
* Look out for providing more shade in the form of trees and structures in your children's play area.
* Make sure that your children drink enough water each day.
* You must not give caffeine-containing beverages to your kid during exposure to the sun.
* When you go to beach or ski hills for a vacation, avoid giving your kids hot and heavy meals. Choose foods with higher water content such as fruits, vegetables, salads and soups.
