Ease that pain with yoga

If you don't want to let stomach cramps upset your schedule, try these basic yoga asanas. Yoga helps in easing stressed nerves and stiff muscles in the abdominal region, relieving you of the pain and soreness. You can do each asana thrice.

Uttana padmasana (Raised Leg Posture)

1. Lie flat on your stomach with your chin on the floor and palms under your thighs.
2. Inhale and raise your right leg as high as you can.
3. Hold yourself in this position for six seconds while breathing normally.
4. Exhale as you lower your leg.
5. Repeat the procedure with your other leg.

Pavan mukta asana (Wind Relieving Posture)

1. Lie flat on your back with arms close to your body. Inhale.
2. Exhale slowly while bringing your knees close to your chest.
3. Hold yourself in this position and breathe normally.
4. Slowly bring yourself to the original position.

Dhanurasana (Bow Posture)

1. Lie flat on your stomach with arms close to your body and legs together. Rest your chin on the floor.
2. Bend both knees.
3. Reach for your ankles or your toes; grip them firmly.
4. Inhale and raise your upper body as you tense your leg muscles and push your feet backwards. 5. Hold yourself in this position for six seconds.
6. Exhale slowly as you release your legs and come back to the original position.

If you also follow a daily exercise routine, don't give it up during your periods. Just tone it down a bit. Working-out releases endorphins, which act as natural painkillers and generate a feeling of well-being. So grab your gear and get going!
