Are girls and women safe in today's India? Police officers found guilty in molestation case. The saviors have proved to be devastators.

With the policemen doing all the wrong things, I think women are not safe anymore. Not only women, the whole society faces the same risk.

WARM REGARDS, KUMAR. "SAVE PAPER, THINK BEFORE YOU PRINT"
The real issue is that the women are treated as commodities and not like individuals at par with men. If a man or boy is molested, his honour is not affected. But if a woman or girl is slightly molested, a hue and cry is made that her honour is gone. there is no reason why man's honour and woman's honour should be different. First bring in gender equality on moral standards and then everything will be okay. In fact, men and boys are as unsafe as women and girls. But men and boys do not lose honour unlike women and girls.

I agree that women in other countries are not safer. But the real probem is social attitude. The women in the west do not face social stigma even after rape. Our women are considered guilty even if they are victims. The society looks down upon the raped or molested women. Thus the society is more guilty than the molestor/ rape accused.

My experience in this regard when I was in New Delhi for a few years was just awful. If that could be the state of affairs in the national capital, one can just guess the situation prevailing elsewhere in the country!
The position in Delhi is worst. Women are safer in Chennai, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Kolkata. Apparently, the law and order situation is worst in Delhi. Delhi is also called rape Capital. All sorts of crimes- dacoity, traffic violations etc are more in Dekhi. Nobody is safe in Delhi, However women also suffer from social attitude that regards the rape victims more criminals than the rapers.

I think except a few places like Pune... most of the cities in India are not safe for the women and girls.

Santosh Kumar singh is right to sy that a woman's safety depends on her. A strong sense of self condfidence and some precautions are necessary everywhere. we can't expect everyone to be virtuous. so caution is the need not only for womn but also for the elderly and others. In Delhi, the elders living alone have been murdered and looted many times. Delhi is safe for nobody.
