It's a very primitive practice which has unfortunately has survived so long though civilization has progressed!
According to my religious belief we are asked to sacrifice animals at special occations like Idul Azha (Bakreed). So I don't think it is not good.

I can't agree with this. This is only superstitions of people. Most of villagers believe this.

Be positive
Nobody sacrifices anything to God. The non vegetarian devotees and priests in fact slaughter the animal for their own food. Offering to God is meaningless.

Abid, It means that you agree with animal sacrifice on Id Ul zuha. If os, offering by Non Muslims is also okay. In fact, nature of offering reflects food habits of devotees.

The practice of animal sacrifices does relate to the food habits of the devotees, but the roots go back a very very long way, to the days when men had hunt other tribes down either for food, for establishing superiority or solely the means for their own survival, in tough times like famines, this might have led to cannibalism, a practice which is still found in isolation in one or two parts of the world. Fast forward to present times, killing each other is impractical, unethical and severely punishable, even to death. But yet man must somehow satiate his thirst for blood, a primal instinct that has still not wiped out from our genetic makeup. So the practice of sacrificing animals was established which is even practiced till date.

Unfortunately our religious thoughts have not kept up with times and religoius sanction of killing animals is particularly deplorable!
I think why only animals comes on sacrificing if you have ability then sacrifice yourself then God will be happy.
