Noted Economist Amartya Sen criticized Nehru for neglecting primary education and stressing more on Technical education.

Sen conveniently forgets that Nehru was architect of India who successfully laid foundation of national progress. What we are today, we owe largely to foresightedness of Nehru. Primary education for all is good but Nehru righly laid emphasis of technical education as this would soon bring India on developing and developed countries map. If you just insisted on primary education, you would have more litearcy but very little of engineers and technorcats for our industrialization and various projects. Primary education is for long term.

He has rightly pinpointed the area which suffered neglect of the worst kind the consequences of it are for all to see!
primary education is not of much use. in the prime time if we want to beat the other countries on technology basis
I think primary education is the basic foundation required for future based education. Technical comes next in the field.
