Yes, we can by using the bags made up of jute, cotton etc.
Its use can be controlled to a great extent but I doubt whether it can be replaced in absolute terms!
Use of Plastics has already been banned in many states as they are non degradable wastes. It was initiated by Himachal Pradesh which is the most clean state, followed by Delhi and few other states.

It can be replaced by the use of paper bags.People should carry their own cotton bags to bring the daily grocery items.

yes we try to use papers bag as much as possible.
In Kerala most of the shops don`t use plastic covers .. They use only paper cover for carrying purpose....
I do not think any other thing can replace plastic . plastic has its own quality but instead of plaster paper boxes can be used.

I think the use of plastic bags of certain description and sizes have already been banned and we must try replacements where it is replaceable!
Replacing plastic is not possible in this era.But once there may come a substitute.

plastic can be replaced bags of paper or cotton but these can't hold liquid things,
Use of plastic as such should not be viewed with total negativity but its uses must be selective and not indiscriminate!
