Why did India became a member of SAARC?

I think its mainly to develop the socio-economic status and tourism.....
All the member nations of SAARC are working with each other on the terms and conditions which they agreed upon in order to strengthen the business relations and expansion of trade among each other.Its an organisation which is engaged in real constructive and progressive work.

To improve the economical states and also the environment of india. ministers of india will discuss the brief points to save the environment .
To improve sociel and economic condition it was necessery to join in SAARC.

I think it is to improve the economic conditions and development of our country.
The SAARC organization is an organization of South Asian countries for mutual cooperation and understanding on multilateral issue.
