The supreme court has ruled that the Muslim women must lift their veil if they exercise their franchise. although I respect supreme court, I feel it is not reasonable to deprive Muslim women of voting right just because they wear Burkah and cannot lift veil owing to their custom. I am no supporter of Burkah or Purdah system but I respect the right of Muslims to follow their traditions. There should be some way out. One way is that the Muslim women be photographed by women photographer and while voting, women polling staff should be posted at the concerned polling booth. Apparently, the Muslim women cannot show their face to straner males but they can unveil in presene of women. This topin needs some discussion.

you are absolutely right in the desicion of supreme court. being the people of india they had the right to vote, and being a muslim they had to follow their traditions, so there must be a help needed for them in this case
Thank yo Mohan Krishna for supporting me. The muslim women should be allowed their tradition and also not denied voting. The only practicable way is that women polling officers are appointed for them. As regards, photo Identity card, the photographer may be women.

There is another development. There is really no difficulty in photo for election card and lifting veil at booth. The problem is about photo affixed on voter lists. The procedure has to be uniform and there can be no relaxation for not pasting Muslim's photo on the voter lists. So, if they can not accept the normal harmless procedure applicable to all, there is no way to help them.
