    Self interest is natural. Everyone is selfish. But the area and scope of 'self' increases with social consciousness. You always think of 'my' or 'mine'. By widening your self- consciousness, you act for your 'family'. Further widening of 'self' will make you work for 'my state', 'my country'. man is always selfish but 'self' definition may be wider. For Gandhi, subhash and Bhagat singh, 'self' expmaded so wide as to cover whole nation 'my nation'. Even a very staunch nationalist or patriot will work for 'my country' and not 'other countries'.

    We should similarly widen our outlook and think of entire nation as 'mine'.
