according to me, the best politician is mr.kamaraj who is known as kingmaker of india.
the best politician who regrets the post of prime minister and made indira gandhi as a prime minister
he is the first man who started the planning of giving free food in school
and the most important and inspire thing is he has only 3 set of clothes and 136 rupees only as his property while he died.. remember he is chief minister of tamilnadu for nearly ten years..

With due respect to your choice, I request all of you to remember Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's contribution to our national integration. The way he achieved it was superhuman. His honesty,firmness earned the title 'the Iron Man of India"! There were a number of princely states whose rulers were up to all kinds games using one pretext or other to retain their independendent identity but in the face of extraordinary firmness and steely resolve, they gave in one after another. When the Russian leader Khrushchev came to India, he could not hide his surprise that India had managed to liquidate the princely states without liquidating the princes. He was a 'karmayogi' even Mahatma Gandhi remarked at the Karachi session of the Congress in 1931 " Jawaharlal is a thinker and Sardar is a doer"! He was an incorruptably honest man and when he died he just left a trunk containing a few clothes and some books by way of his material possessions. Need I spell out my choice!

All of you forgot our nation's father Mahathma Gandhi ? His thoughts and acts were in different from other political readers.I think he is the best.

Mahatma Gandhi was very much in my thoughts but I look upon him as more of a moral leader than a political one!

Abid- Mahatma Gandhi was definitely most outstanding. But he died soon after independence. we are discussing about leaders who worked in post independence period. We cannot compare Mahatma Gandhi to anyone. Rather outstanding leaders elsewhere are compared to him. for example, Martin Luther King, Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan and some others are referred as 'Gandhi' of their territory.

we are all speaking about the honest politicians .. but all the name mentioned here is about the politicians who lived 30 years bsck..why we cant to mention our present politician?

Yes Vivekm. As we are discussing about leaders post independence, the leaders just after independence like Pt Nehru and Sardar Patel also count. Present leaders like Mamata Banerjee, Man Mohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi are also among post independence leaders. so we have to choose best leader soon after independence till day.

to me Jawaharlal nehru is the best politician.he he is the architect
of modern India.he do not believe in secrecy or privacy.because he is not doing any thing wrong.

i think Narendra Modi is proving himself as the best in making politicians through his current actions, directions and commitments. Though he is state centric. But a kind of role model state is in making through robust development by his effort.
