    President is only like a rubber stamp in India. If he had the power like, President of America, our India would have achieved many new heights, because only very efficient citizens have been chosen to this post. Actually, Kalam ji is the best candidate for Prime Minister, not president. :(

    Kalam is like Manmohan Singh an ex Government Scientist. He is more an academician and scientist rather than a politician. A Prime minister's job is politician job. President is a decorative appointment. Real authority is Union cabinet headed by Prime Minister on whose advice President works. all activities are central government are in name of President of India but really that of union cabinet and government officers.

    Can you please tell me, why in America, all decisions are carried out by President? America is also a democratic country like India. Yet, why principles of both countries differ?

    Sandhya, they do not have a Prime Minister, The President is the supreme power holder in the office, whereas in India it is the Prime Minister. The role of the President in India is only for namesakes, actually I think we should just do away with this since the President of India does not really hold any more influence in the ruling of the government! At least that would save so many expenses!

    I to feel that Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam was the best president ever seen in my life. He was constantly active and has also served for the country in scientific programs.
