One must know History of the country as well as world. :) I never used to like History as a subject in school days but i like History now and always keen to know anything about it. :)
As a career point of view i would like to tell most of the students who appear in civil services choose history as a subject. :)
History teaches us the importance of our past and what we should learn from it. For a career it is good if you want to go into teaching or writing books or archaeology.
