Raksha bandhan is very popular in U.P. Administration had to arrange special buse and all routes were very busy. The streets in Agra were over crowded and traffic very slow just yesterday even though the festival is today. Special sweets called Ghewar is common on this day.

My daughter tied Rakhi on my wrist which my cousin sent me by courier.I don't have a real sister so this festival is not much of importance for me till i had my own babies as of now they celebrate it with joy. :)
Happy Rakhi to all boddunan brothers and sisters. Have lots of fun.

Although Raksha Bandhan is a festival of love between brother and sister, this also reminds that women are weak. Being weak, they tie Rakhi on brother's wrist to ensure safety. Ironically, even a very strong and powerful sister ties Rakhi on her weak and handicapped brother expecting that he will protect her.

I have a cousin in Delhi, who is physically handicapped since very childhood and he depends on his sister for looking after him. Yet his sister will tie Rakhi on him expecting that he will protect her.
