    Its true. We have to say some lies at some situations to maintain a decency. We cant confess everything to everyone. We have our own privacy which cannot be revealed.

    Most of us won't say good or fine. I have heard many persons replying 'Ok', 'just getting on'. But overseas people say fine or good (all positive replies). We should learn from them.

    Yes I agree no person is fine. But they say lie. Every one will say this lie to others.

    That is spontaneous, no one wants to say 'I am sad or not doing well' You know who know the person well would know it immediately and there is no need to tell strangers that you are not well, there is no use. That is not unusual.

    Wishing some one and reply is more a formality than giving true information. If I am not well, only a doctor needs know my disease and nobody else. On matter of formality, the question of true or untrue, right or wrong does not arise.

    There are certain niceties to be followed in life and when someone asks you how you are, it is just a matter of giving them a positive impression by saying things are fine by and large..However, with our close friends and family we may be more open when something is troubling us...

    Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

    Why only doctors? Your kith and kin too should know the truth to take you to a doctor when you are unable to say about your condition

    Yes I most of the time say lie if someone asks me how I am ?. i would say fine even though I am not but that's common as i don't think there is no use of saying NO I am not fine to every person as they can't make us fine. :blink:

    The thread didn't ask you why you say a lie. The thread says that how often we say "i;m fine". whch is a lie
