Why few sites force to POST original pic?

Hello Friends

I have seen this thing in some site where they force users to post their original pictures as profile pic otherwise they can't continue on site. I wonder why they required original photo? :blink:

Users can easily upload someone's else photo and I am sure that site can't assure about that thing. Still they go for it. What do you think about it? :dry:

    I feel that it is to prevent opening of fake accounts. But you have got a point there that how can they verify that the profile picture is really that of the user. Anybody can use other people's photo as their own. Wasn't anything mentioned in those sites regarding how they verify it?

    I feel that the sites are right in asking the users to post the user's photo. This is to curb the online atrocities like false identification to cheat women members. We are all aware such cheatings are happening in the net and further leading to many unwanted situations.

    I agree. These make the profile real. My own photo in Boddunan and some other sites is real. But in Yahoo, the avatar is an image created from Yahoo facility. Also my avatar name there is 'Ironman' instead of real name. But this is only for viewers whereas the site owners know the real name.

    I support not only demand for real photo but also copy of pancard, address proof etc.

    Earlier people wanted to remain anonymous while using the net because they felt that there was all sorts of danger, whereas now things are different and there is no harm in putting up one's picture or give certain necessary details! I feel that being open is better than giving false details and trying to remain secretive !

    Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

    Yes Even I have seen some sites which ask users to upload their original photo. :)

    I think they look good and look lot more real by uploading real photos :)

    I also like the idea as I have my own photo as my avatar on almost every site and as for your ID, once you added your bank account or your paypal a/c you have provided your entire information. You cannot have either one without being a real someone.

    About uploading own photo, well that shouldn't be must. I mean not all people like to do that.
