I prefer to use rewordify in order to simplify semantics. It gives sjmple words from difficult one. It checks sentence structure s.

I use plagiarism checker sometimes but am surprised how it behave. A few days ago I wrote a story and put it through the checker. Though I had retold the story in my own style, the checker found similarities of sentences and phrases with some articles in the net which were not even remotely connected to this story. It reported my story was only 78% original. It showed sentence by sentence and phrase by phrase that I had used words and phrases someone else had used. Now friends, please tell me, the sentences and words that I use, can they never be similar to anyone else? :(

Words and small sentences can match but not bigger sentences, say having more than 20 words do not stand a chance to match. At least something would certainly differ. But if I say 'I love you' has to match and bring thousands of matches.

I don't use it because I don't write much of the articles but I doubt if any one uses it unless they copy it and don't want it to reveal that they have copied it. hehehe....

No, professionals use it to make sure no matches found. job providers are too fussy about it.

I agree with Sunil. Many job providers do use such tools to make sure the content they receive from writers is not copied.

I use a plagiarism tool some times, especially when I am referring to some online resources to find additional information about a topic I write on. Of course I never copy any content straightaway, but if I am referring to some content from the Internet, I prefer that I write it the best way in my own words based on my understanding. :)

Wondering if you all use any tool to check your articles for duplicate content before submitting them for review and publication. If you do so, what do you use? If you don't, then how do you authenticate that your content is unique.

Just thought this topic would be worth discussing here!

Regards!

If the article is written by you in your own words then there is no need for any check since you have not copied it ...Taking ideas and developing is someting else whereas copying an article is what is to be avoided....
I prefer to proof read instead of plagiarism checker, it will give the correct semantics and remove spelling mistakes.

No one will believe if someone said he is original writer of any article. There is nothing in the world that has not been already said. You only reorganize a topic in your own style and to see you have not been too inspired, you have to use a plagiarism checker. You can refer to researchers in this matter they do it openly and called researchers.

@ Mohan Manohar - Is proof-reading a real alternative to avoiding plagiarism? I am not sure. Of course proof reading will help in making the content error free, but as far as eliminating plagiarized content is concerned, I think different styles of writing make the content unique even if you are writing on a topic that may already exist.

@Samir Mishra Proof reading and Plagiarism checker are two separate entities, as the author who is the owner of content knows whether the product is a true or a mixed stolen content, just like a mother knows who is the father of her child, so, I think personally author should not use plagiarism checker, as they should proof read, either manually or any other ways, proof reading is not the alternative to plagiarism checker, personally I have never used plagiarism checker, I use to proof reading article to get away from writing mistakes.
