    Definitely, Indira Gandhi was a great leader. Dev Kant Barua had spoken in parliament- Indira is India and India is Indira. This statement is considered as height of sycophancy. Proclamation of emergency is a blot on her. She declared emergency not for some public cause but only consequent on Allahabad High Court setting aside her election as member of parliament for using corrupt means.

    Indira Gandhi taught this nation a few lessons and will always be remembered ahead of other PMs this country has had so far. I remember the only woman PM of India with all the due respect.

    Seeing her defiance to Americat, Henry Kissenger ,the then Foreign secretary expressed his anger saying, "That Woman". This speaks of her guts which was never repeated by any of the PMs who succeeded her. A cartoonist described her as the only man in her cabinet.
