Yes this is truth but its hard to lessen the gap. But I think the gap is already reducing as I guess around 10~15 years there was no provision of free education and mid day meal which is now there in the schools. Don't you think now its easy for poor also to get education at least.
Visit any government hospital. You will know that the health care is poor. Wards are dirty and overcrowded. In some places you will see two patients lying in one bed. The rich are not there. They are in posh and expensive hospitals and nursing homes.
Visit any government school. The education is substandard. Classes are overcrowded. Teachers while away their time. The rich are in expensive English medium schools. It is there future engineers, doctors, economists, industrialists, policy makers are created.
The poor earn little, all or most of which is spent on food. They have no means to improve their lot. The chasm between the rich and the poor is widening in India. This kind of divide had been the fuel for violent revolution in many countries of the world.

No doubt what your wrote here is 100% right. government is responsible but society is also responsible for it. Government passed new rule RTE. Right to education. Under this law 25% seats in private schools are reserve for poor students. government is paying fees to Private school for poor students. But school administration is not interested in following this rule.

There are exceptions to all, Puri govt. hospital is one of two government hospital with ISO certification and believe me, when some one enters there, one can feel the real feeling of a private run hospital.

Without any exceptions all hospitals should run to cater to the needs of rich or poor alike. Only then the chasm could be narrowed.
It all depends on state govt. as health is the state subject, good health is the sign of a developing country and it all begins from hospital.

Health doesn't start from hospital. It starts from you. Because its your health. You should take care of it. If you fail, it's only then Hospital comes in to picture. But the subject is about the inadequacy in he health system Be it in the realm of state government or central government

It is easy to blame government, doctors are also part of society. How may doctors are interested in giving there serviese in rural areas.
