How do you respond if somebody criticizes you? do you smile and avoid the situation or do you shout back? do you examine the criticizer to see whether at least a part of what he has said about you may be true or do you try to prove him as a madman in front of others?

There are criticisms of all kinds -positive, negative, cynical, jealous so on and so forth. It is always sensible to welcome the positive ones!!
If he is speaking the truth, I learn from him and then avoid him. Otherwise, I teach him a lesson. This is obvious.

I'll see the veracity of the criticism. If the critic is right, I will thank him. If he's wrong, i will try to convince him. If he is adamant and refuses to hear me, I will leave the place.

I will listen to what he speaks of, and would remain silent as I cannot control the other person, it is his mind and mouth to speak whatever, and that will not affect me. For me silent is the best to counter critics.

I shall evaluate his criticism and take corrective action. If the criticism is invalid, I shall just ignore.

Yes. Silence silences even the worst of the critics. And no punishment is higher than ignoring the critic.
It depends entirely on the person who is criticizing and also the circumstances. One cannot react in the same manner for every criticism. If it has merit I would analyse it but when it is done with an intention to do just that (criticise ) I would ignore it ..

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

I smile, bow my head and take it if it is positive.
I smile, look at them if it is not justified
But shouting back is not my idea.
I always keep my profile low.

It depends on who the person is and what his/her intentions are! If the person really means it out of concern for me, then I welcome the criticism, but if they are otherwise, I either ignore it or give them a word or two mine, positively!

Honestly I may change my reaction as per person. If one of the known person who knows me well will criticize me then I would surely think about it and try to do something about it.
