Today is Marudhur Gopalan Ramachandran who is popularly known as MGR's birthday. He was an actor and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. He was bron on 17/01/1917 and died on 24/12/1987.

    Makkal Thlagam MGR not only a politician par excellence and a great actor, was a great Philanthropist. He used to distribute Rain coats to all the Rickshaw pullers every year well before he became a politician.

    He was a very tall personality who made a mark both in films and politics...He is a legend today in Tamil films although his parents were Malyalees settled in Sri lanka ! His contribution to Tamilnadu is immense and will always be remembered ..
