Ok, here I go again starting another controversial topic. Many people including Ministers and MLAs keep complaining about free porn on the internet in India and stating that it should be blocked. But the surprising thing is that after 15 years of internet in India, porn sites are yet to be blocked by the Government! Do you support that pornographic sites should be blocked on Indian Internet servers?

It is not possible to block entire sites that contain porn content. It should be restricted. Children below 18 years are restricted from such sites.

If somebody below 18 years logs on to such sites, how can the poor computer possibly know?

You can't block any content on Internet. If governments were allowed to block porn sites now what will stop them from blocking any site which they don't approve. I don't think government should be allowed any kind of power to manage websites. They might use it for their own political gains. Look at China, they sensor everything.

Very true and perfectly said! Actually even if such sites are blocked, people will always find a way around those restrictions and access whichever site they want to watch. Instead of trying to block only certain sites which is near to impossible, instead people, especially young children should be taught to use internet with responsibility and there also are available a number of means such as firewalls, childlocks etc, to block unwanted sites.

These are excuses. If the Government REALLY wants such sites can be blocked, the way they have been effectively blocked in the Gulf, China etc.

These are not excuses, for your information, one thing is clear that more a thing is banned or prohibited, the more it is sought after! So if they are really banned, it will draw more attention to itself than is being given now. Also, so far as India goes, there is no clear definition of what a porn really is and unless there is a clear ruling against it, the internet service providers cannot ban any sites on their own.

Blocking internet content amounts encroaching on a person's fundamental right and is against the democratic philosophy. Whosoever finds pornography offensive can implement firewalls and other measures that are designed to keep such sites away, why talk about blocking them when they may cater to someone else' s needs?

In India corruption is at peak. Owner of such site ready to pay anything for save their sites because they earn good revenue from such site.

So the Indian Government does not known what porn is? I suggest you go through the Indian IT Act...
As per the IT act act, for your information, all pornographic and obscene sites are liable to be banned...
But as I stated before, the Indian Government still is weak in the enforcement of these laws.
The point is...The Indian Government should either legalize such sites or should block them...
It is being contradictory. It opposes such sites and still allows them to continue.

Instead of waiting for the shallow reforms to work and empty talks of our People's representatives 'Help yourself". After all the On and OFF switch of your computer is in your hands.
One has to remember no legislation works, if there is no people's participation.

You can't blame the government for everything. You should take some responsibility for your problems. You can't turn to government every time you have some issues. If a person has a problem with porn you could come up with simple solutions instead of waiting for all porn sites to be banned.
