Prices soar owing to many conditions. Rainfall shortage is one of the conditions. It's better for the planners to look towards those conditions which can be controlled and strengthen them .rainfall is a condition that's not in our control. Alternative measures should be taken in to consideration and work on them.

One of the widely used tools is to raise interest rates to increase savings and curb demand , but it affects the growth of the economy. High prices also moderate demand as people consume less and more people can consume. Any other suggestions.

What you said is a right suggestion. I dont have a better one than that.
the new government should be given time to understand the situation. lets wait for min. 6 months hope that conditions will be under controll.
The new government has inherited empty Coffers from the previous government. It takes time for the new government to explore the new resources for Revenue generation.

The country's problems are very complex and people are patient enough to give the new government adequate time to understand them to begin controlling them. I feel in India governments should be frequently rotated say everyten years, so that new ideas are brought in.

The new government has announced upward revision in Railway passenger fares by 14.2% and freight charges by 6.5%. Were not they who protested the loudest when UPA would increase prices. How roles change. Only the public gets same treatment. soon there will be rise in petrol and diesel prices. Onions are likely to touch Rs 100 per kg in October as per TOI report yesterday. Good prices are coming !
This decision is not from new government it was done by previous government and it was done on the eve of their defeat, and this government have to implement this.

Any government will take a decision on prices basing on the existing conditions. The decisions may be hard or liberal to make the life easier.
