Whether they have a sense of humor or not they keep us in splits with the things they say.  I agree kids who smile are the ones who are able to interact better with the environment. The others may just be observers with very little sensory experiences. 

A smiley babies are a joy not only to the parents, to all. They are the source of Joy. Seeing a smiley baby one can drive away the blues.
