There appears some misunderstanding on issue of Madhesis in Nepal. The Madhesis complain that the states in Nepal as decided in the cosntitution leave them in minority everywhere. Nepal leadership apprehends that India is instigating Madhesis. This is the issue that needsbe amicably settled. It is hoped that this will be settled by Nepalis themselves without any ourside interference. As regards Indo Nepal relation, not only many Nepalis are working as watchmen and waiters but also serving in some Gurkha regiments of Indian Army. It is certainly not in interst of Nepal to spoil relation with India. Nepal is free as a sovereign country to maintain good relation with China but this should preferably not be at cost of Indo Nepal relation.  Let us hope ultimately everything will be okay.

We have to remember that there is an open border between India and Nepal and often this is the route terrorists have taken to infiltrate into India. Given this fact India would naturally be concerned with Nepal's growing friendship with China. The only option left for India would be make Visa mandatory for Nepalis and also close the border or else we will have Chinese will have an easy access to come into Indian territory ! India is right in showing its concerns now that Nepal will be a secular state and if it is going to be on Indian model then we need to seriously worry about our safety ..

No i don't agree with you about the border between nepal and india because there are lots of people whose family lives in nepal from years and if the border is made then they have to waste their time in visa and all that red-tapism

There are millions of Nepalese in India and if you visit parts of WB (Darjeeling) Sikkim and borders of Bihar, Assam, North East and UP you will find lots of Nepalis in India and a big number of Indians live in Nepal for years. I have visited that area deeply and know the Chinese are trying their best to capture Nepal to have a decisive advantage over India. The situation is not as simple as dealing with couple of waiters and watchmen or people in Gurkha regiment but the Indo-Nepal relations have much more than that.

yes China is not an honest country. China wants to siege India from East to North. His army is present at Arunachal Pradesh Border and at POK. In future his army may be posted at Bihar and Uttar Pradesh Border. China build dam on Bramaputra river now he his in position to stop water in  river or create situation of flood in West Bengal.

Just for your information - there are different kinds of VISAs - not just travel Visa, you have immigrant Visa, resident visa, working visa which all have different terms ..Ultimately we have to think of India's security first !

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

After Narendra Modi's came in to power, the erstwhile Indo Nepalese relations took a new turn.

With the increasing dominance of Maoism, the new Nepalese Government recently, Nepal started distancing itself from India and nearing towards China.

Here is an interesting link that throws light in this regard.

@GulshanJi- sorry but the truth is India has much more to lose if the relations between India and Nepal deteriorate at this point.

@rambabu- the relations between Indo-Nepal have been deteriorating for last 7-8 years after the system of Nepal changed from Kingdom to democracy. The communists under the influence of China have a major say in the politics which is taking Nepal toward China. China is spending billions and the Nepalis are enjoying the flow of money from India in competition with China.

@Usha the dispute between India and Nepalese people in bordering areas esp in Darjeeling area lead by Subhash Ghising who died this year in January has been the main reason of dispute between the two countries which Indians failed to settle as usual. In fact there is no country in Indian neighborhood whom we could call a true neighbor of our country for the bad policies of our governments in the past and present to some extent.

There is no Visa system in between Nepal and India (unless you're traveling by air a passport is enough) There are thousands of families living in both these two countries for centuries peacefully despite having disputes but the communist parties are trying to bring the trouble from both sides. The present Madheshi dispute is one of these problems which is nothing but to sideline the Indians in Nepal.

That's a Good analysis Sunil. You laid out two important and pertinent points on the subject. The first and foremost is that the belief we had that Nepal is a good neighbor proved to be a mirage. The second point is that, Nepal is really having good time in getting the funds from India to compete with China whose Expansionism is well known.

I feel Nepal in future Nepal should make itself ready for a a Big back stabbing from China.
