Indian classics should be taught in our schools. It's only when the children are taught about our culture, ethos and the lives of our great leaders, they start taking pride in our country and culture.

Yes, today our kids are going away and are being attracted towards foreign culture. Today's generation has forgot to respect elders, how to talk with others. It is rightly said in the link that today no one can speak a straight line in their mother tongue. If you see two educated person talking in a metro city then it becomes difficult to say that they are speaking impure English or impure Hindi.

I agree with you. Children should know, first about our own culture and heritage first. In the absence of this how children can appreciate other cultures ?

The best place for making children get acquainted with Indian culture is the Home. We have many Jataka tales, Ramayana or Mahabharata. Parents should narrate them during bedtime.

Practically, children learn from what their parents do.  Then comes school and neighborhood. when they grow up and begin reading, give them good children story books and magazines- Chandamama, Champak.

Yes sir.  School starts much later. Before that Home education is vital, where Parents take the charge to teach our Indian classics. Chandamama is a good example.

yes of course the children should be taught the basic things which is our culture and if the children don't know his/her culture then studies are of no use

We have a rich treasure of Books on Indian culture. Parents especially Mothers can relate these through Lullabies and Bedtime stories in the very child itself.

But the fact is that parents are not taking interest in telling tales about our culture to their kids. They thought that all these are old fashioned.

Of course there are parents who think that telling the their children tales about our culture is an old fashion. But such parents doing injustice to their children, Such children will become neither 100% western nor Indian. There is a saying, " Dhobi Ka Kutta na Ghar Ka na Ghat Ka".

True such people will remain in between western culture and Indian culture.  They will not become able to follow either western culture of Indian culture and will remain in confusion whole life.
