We Indians are just following western culture and in modern days even our toilets are designed in western way and we are forgetting our own traditional way. Here is a link which tells the benefits of traditional way:

Go through the link, the link says: " The 90-degrees defecation posture, formed by the bending of the hips and knees at right-angles when sat upright on a pedestal toilet, can cause narrowing of the point at which the anus and rectum are joined which may complicate the passing of stools. "

We cannot find out traditional style of toilet in newly constructed houses. We all forgot about our traditional style. It can see only in those houses which are constructed many years ago. The main reason why people left the traditional way is because of knee pain and back pain. Many people even in new generation cannot bend their knee properly for sitting on the toilet in traditional style because of severe pain. People with backache also can't use old style toileting due to pain. But I always prefer the traditional style.

It's a question of convenience and use. For old people Modern toilets are convenient. Flushing and cleaning is simple. Water wastage is less. Above all, it's more hygienic.

The flushing and cleaning facilities of western style toilet is possible in traditional style also. Now-a-days, Indian style toilets are constructed with flushing facilities. Today's people understand the importance of old style method and started to make at least one in old style. But old people always prefer western style because they can sit there without any difficulty.

In my own case, I have my parents. They live with me. So this necessitated for opting for Modern Toilets. For Old people who have knee problems it's convenient.

I still maintain that sit in any way the result is same because the way which is convenient will be adopted. Body has great ability to adapt. There is nothing western or Indian about doping a natural function. If you try to delay it, then it can happen in any pose !!! What a topic yaar.

Indian style of sitting in toilet is best one. it is also a poses of yoga, Kaga Asana. But at present I am using comod of Westren style because of my health problem.
