If we go through the various information regarding Rio 2016 we get to learn that corruption and negligence have completely messed up the Indian contingent. Even the controversy created by the men of our sports minister is not of good taste. Doping scandal, officials taking undue advantage, physio was sent late and now the news of the doctors who are basically radiologists accompanying the Indian squad. A link for you to read:

What a Radiologist is doing at Rio, where  a Sports medicine Doctor is expected to be present ? It's due to such Corruption Practices India Athletes are cutting sorry figures in every Sport event.

The day when the Government takes Sports seriously and do the necessary arrangements, Our Sports men can never bring a Medal

Yes its very true that the govt needs to take a strong stand against these things. But the problem is its the govt or ministers itself who are doing this. As deepa had mentioned, she was not even allowed to take her coach along with her. Only once she qualified for the last event was a coach specially flown in. Its corruption and favoritism that is eating up all the resources in our country. Reforms need to be started from the grass-root level.

From the post your shared its clear why the radiologist were taken to Rio. One person is the son VP's son and the other a close relative. These stories are just the tip of the iceberg. Its tough to imagine the apathy that are sports persons are going through. Really looking forward to a positive change.

The worst part is no government takes an action against such ill practices. If we want success at every level then the first requirement is such corrupt officials and malpractices should be handled strongly. People who have authority are misusing it by sending their family member or relative to have fun without spending a penny from their own pocket.

All the irregularities happening are well known to all. Bureaucrats  from top to Bottom are the Culprits.

God only knows when such positive changes will take place in Indian sports! The athletes who do not come from a rich strata suffer the most. The govt. also knows about it but keeps mum and in such a situation we should not expect something glorious to take place in 2020.

After Sakshi's and Sindhu's performance the Government should open its eyes and do all the needful necessary for making  Champions. If it cannot, it should stop sending contingents of Sports persons, not only to the Olympics but to any Sports event in India or abroad.

Shameful ! This is the precedence that has been set for decades and now it is almost impossible to shake it off..The entire sports system needs to be overhauled and i sincerely hope that all the scandals and misdoings are being read by the PMO and necessary steps taken to d away with these corrupt practices by the bureaucrats at least in the future.

Also with all the short comings and bare minimum assistance received , our participants have still managed to shine in many events and hopefully win a few more medals..

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

With all said and done about the system. I know situation is murky. But there is certainly a ray hope. Just now read this article about Gopi Chand sir. I think we need more individuals and specially current and former sportsperson to take the initiative to bring up new talents.

Thank you said by: rambabu

I know Gopichand, the great coach wo made celebrity Badminton stars like Saina , . Sindhu is also a product of Gopichand Academy located in Hyderabad. You can see how during the Match between Sindhu and Yokuhara, GopiChand coming and patting the shoulder of Sindhu.

Even Sindhu's parents said Saina's victory is dedicated to Gopichand.

You are right and we Indians should be proud of our athletes who won medal. Even we should appreciate who though failed to win medal, tried to give their best through hard work. The injured athletes did not get proper treatment from the doctors of Indian squad is a national shame.  The PMO needs to look into it or else such corrupt practice will keep on increasing.
