By now majority of the nation recognizes JawAharlal Nehru for what he was , a power crazy leader who looked after his own political ambition and was ready to go to any extent. And he did not think twice about using trusted leaders as a footstool to further his ambition ...this article is an eye opener abouth how Farooq Abdullah and Nehru hatched the Article 370 plan using Sardar Patel

Article in enough long but I didn't right single world about views of Ambedkor, who was president of commitee which drafted constitution of India. When Shekh abdullha asked him for section 370, he refused it. He replied that India secure your borders, make roads and do all things of development of state but Indian have not any right to visit here freely. I read it before some days in News Paper.

If it was left to Nehru or he was the final authority he would not mind leaving Kashmir out of India. He was least bothered as long he got the premiership and company of Mountbatten(s). There is no secret about the references of Mountbatten's posting in India.

Anil, welcome back ....I agree that in this article no reference is made of Ambedkar . ..here is another link that gives done details about Ambedkars views

I agree Sunil that Nehru was so blinded by power that he was ready to stoop to any low  .

Thanks Usha for the link. Never knew before that Nehru was an instrument in getting special status to Kashmir. Giving special status to Kashmir is the main cause of all its present day problems.

Ambedkar was very much in favor of development. He also was of the thought that no person or institution should rise above the Nation. On certain points he had conflicting views with Gandhi too. He always called Gandhi as Gandhi and not as Mahatma or Bapu. He for some reasons and some of his stands was not liked by Nehru and Gandhi.

Well, for Nehru and his descendants, Power hunger is everything that they care about.

Well, I had read some where that Gandhi favored Nehru to be PM because he was a Birtish educated fellow and was close to Mountbatten. Stories about his affair with Mrs. Mountbatten was well known.

Nehru probably was the natural choice back then to lead the nation . But he was so blinded by power that he overlooked everything else. He had the best chance to make India strong and also united but he divided India on communal lines straight away without having the farsightedness to see what his action would cost the nation. He made sure that we were doomed in some ways..his socialistic , laid back approach too was a hindrance for growth in the early years ..

That is true Anil, Dr. Ambedkar refused to include article 370 as he clearly thought that it was not a fair one to the Indians and would do more damage than bring normalcy. But Nehru, true to his form, just went ahead and did not respect Dr. Ambedkar's views, the way he did with other prominent leaders.

That is correct Arunima. Dr. Ambedkar was more focused on development and to bring the downtrodden and backward classes into the mainstream society for which he put forth the suggestion of reservation for them, but he also strictly stated that the reservation be given for only 10 years, which he felt was enough time to educate the youth in those classes and then let them work to bring change in the community. But we know how congress carried forward this reservation for more than 6 decades and turned those people into vote banks.

And as far as Mountbatten goes, he was especially brought into India with the sole idea of turning Nehru towards the British, which was not difficult as he was already brainwashed and anglicized during his stay there. Din't take much than charms of Lady Mountbatten!

It was not a good thing that Ambedkar were not respect Gandhi like others. Views and thoughts may be differ but after all sacrifice of Gandhi Ji much and much more great that Ambedkar. Right deserving candidates for PM was Patel, but he was not from a royal family and nor a dears of royal family.

Respect need not be blind worship. He had high regards for Gandhi but did not call him Bapu or Mahatma. He did not believe in worshiping an individual and institution above nation.
