When we talk of gender discrimination, we have only male and female in mind. But we ignore the status of eunuchs, neither male nor female- and l;eave them in destitute and unhonourable condition.

Arunacahal Pradesh Government has suggested that the eunuchs be engaged to defend the borders. The Union Government may form a seperate force consisting of eunuchs.

The Mighuls engaged the eunuchs for security of harems. But we need advance further in gender justice. The eunuchs are same as others except gender. There is no reason why they should be confined to tradition of dancing and singing only for reward on auspicious occasions like birth of a child, marriage or opening of shops.

The eunuchs (also called manglamukhi and kinnar) should be brought to main stream and educated/ groomed like others to enable them to get their rightful place in society at par with others.
