The so many raids in connection with so called Flesh trades with no consequence indicate the futility of law on prostitution. On Agra Mathura High Way, the police from time to time raid to nab the call girls and customers and book the small restaurant owners and dhabas.

It is time the govt. legalizes sex work and diverts police and administration to other serious crimes like rapes, murder, frauds, smuggling etc.

Gulshan, similar raids also keep happening in Pune from time to time. There are many politicians also who are involved in many sex rackets. These call girls and prostitutes do need some kind of livelihood. Either the government provide them with decent-paying jobs or leave them. It is high time that prostitution be considered as a legal profession.

It is a very Valid point .It is one of the 'evils' of society, it has been happening in our great culture from the time it was born... so Legalise it.

Legalizing it will make it more safer and hygenic for the Sex workers and their customers.

Kalyani- sex work is also a job. Our constitution guarantees choice of job. If any man or woman chooses sex work as an occupation, there must not be any coercion to change the job. As regards immorality, the businessmen, lawyers and doctors are doing many things that are grossly immoral and detrimental to society. any job done honestly is good enough.

I dont think sex work needs legalization, if it gets legalized then that will in itself become an encouragement for many.
Kalyani,

The chances are less, look our neighbour country srilanka, sex is legalised there. There are no incidents as happenings in India.

But

Advantages:

1.A legit license- ergo checking of sex related diseases.
2.It will be a more open affair, healthy for everybody. You can flip your partner if he/she keeps hitting them up.
3.More taxable income!
4.If they pay taxes then they will be entitled to provisions that a "prostitute" is not today...schooling, ration etc.
5.Some government database of prostitution...so if necessary alternate income means can be arranged for those partaking in the business.
