Well, we all know that in some states of india namely tamilnadu and kerala some temples own elephants. People usually give coins to elephants to get blessings from them. But, In the past few years some elephants die due to tuberclosis. Some people say that the elephants die due to infection as they inhale the head lies, dust and bacteria through their trunk when they offer blessings to the people.

The concerned authorities must take some measures on this issue. It is better to get blessings from elders. Why to hurt animals which are so precious?

Very good concern pointed out here again. Thanks for bringing interesting topics for discussion. Has this been taken up with local authorities and forest departments?

The very idea of domesticating animals is disgusting and an indication of cruelty. The elephants are wild animals and proper place for them is forests and not temples.

Yes. The tamilnadu chief wildlife warden has sent a letter to the "HINDU ARANILAYA THURAI" to ban the activity of devotees getting blessings from elephants in temple.

But we have to await for the action of the concerned authorites.
Kerala forest department has opened the first old age home for captive elephants in the country at Kottoor, 70km from Thiruvananthapuram
