The politicians indulging in corruption belong to all parties. But there is difference in magnitude. The regional parties are most corrupt. Here even the main leadership of the party is involved in corruption. It appears that the top leadership of Congress and BJP are not directly involved in any corruption. The left parties are generally free from this vice.

There is a major difference in the amount of money they loot when they are in power and no power.I mean to same,party in power will loot more money and the opposition would loot less betraying people with their fake promises. :( :(

The politicians aiming to get more money will like to remain with the ruling party or alliance. Thus you need to keep track of turncoats and parties that always cling to alliance in power. There are certain groups/ leaders who are always in power. Just watch which personalites were in power irrespective of NDA, UPA or U.F. govt. Even on policies, they will always vote with the ruling alliance without caring about merits of the policy.

@Gulshan

I don't think the clean image that leftish parties and their leaders enjoyed decades back is still there and they are as corrupt as any! And this based on my experience of the long left rule in West Bengal!
Chinmoy has better experience about left. However still they cannot be compared with congress, BJP and other parties like RJD, Mulayam Singh's party. There are very less corruption news about left.

The principal reason why the corruption and corrupt practices of left leaders are known less is the fact that political powers and state powers are confined to a few states and people of West Bengall have knowledge of how power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely!!!

Chinmoy- The entire nation knows about corrupt practices of Mulayam singh, Mayavati, Jaya Lalitha as they have so many Income Tax and CBI cases against them. But have we similar stories about Jyoti Basu, Budhdev bhattarchaya and other left leaders. The left may not be so honest and could be somewhat corrupt as you know better. But is it fair to club them with others? While others fight for getting more berths in Union cabinet, the left supported from outside. Does it not make difference.

I agree Raja. The leaders just after independence had participated in freedom movement and hence their character was different. The next generation opted for politics only as a career. The politicians also come from same society. So, they are as corrupt as people from other walks of life- medicine, engineering etc..

The left parties were almost free of corruption.I think it was just not knowing how to corrupt!Now all had got basic ideas and areas of corruption and where there is money there will be corruption in greater degree.
