Difference between 'recently' and 'shortly'
in Improving English Writing Skills
There is often confusion about use of word 'recent' or 'recently'. Many use this for near future as well.

'Recent' refers to past and not future. So, it is wrong to say: In the recent future. Better say: In the near future.
