Indians have their own distinct style of speaking and writing in English. The link provides some common Indian phrases. One is 'Please do the needful'. This is very common in official usage.

The author is irritated by such use. But when a language crosses boundaries and goes oversees, this cannot remain the same. Ganges in Allahabad is not same as at Gangotri. We are proud of our contribution to English language and cannot be expected to speak and write strictly in Queen's English. Incidentally, even Britishers speak cockney English.

The link given below is just to take note of what Indian English constitutes.

A language grows only when it is spoken by many in different ways and it adapts words from other languages also.

This article highlights the fact that how we commit mistakes while speaking and writing english and it is a fact that we do and most of the time being unaware of it...It is also a fact that English is not our national language and hence we suffer when it comes to speaking it in a flawless manner...
It is necessary to speak english as the british or aussy or americans speak? Not at all, we indians can adapt our version of english.

We should speak correct English. English as spoken by most Indians is acceptable. All that we should ensure is correct syntax. Correctness of verb form is very necessary. Although we have Indian variant of English, we should not deliberately indianize this too much.

I think the English that taught us by the Britishers is the best one.We should not vary from it more.

I agree with Abid that we should not vary English and keep this pure. English as spoken and written in Britain is most authentic. Oxford Dictionary is most authentic. We should attempt to speak and write in Queen's English However, when a language travels to a vast area, this cannot remain the same. Some Indian words have netered English and widely used. Similarly many English words have entered Indian languages. In this connectiln, let me refer some stories by Mulk Raj Anand. He used beautifully many Indian words in his stories.

I would ask an question to both abid and gulshan ji that if english would have originated in india than too you would say this. I am not saying that syntax of the language should be chanhed ,but something indians should given chance to change little bit.

What I wish to convey is that there should be no deliberate attempt to pollute English with more Indian words. Such Indian words as have naturally creptin English and known internationally are okay. If you deliberately import more Indian words in English, this will lose its identity as English and will be uninteeligible to many. Suppose that Abid incorporates too many Malyalam words in English, I shall not understand his English. If I deliberately incorporate Punjabi and Urdu words in English, Abid will not understand the english used by me. I hope this is clear.
