'Soft' is opposite of 'hard'. Softness is a weakness. Some one who can be easily deceived is a 'soft' target. 'Smooth' is opposite of 'rough'. A perfect art piece is smooth. You may feel pleasure to drive on a 'smooth road'. A hard article may be smooth.
