A very interesting news about temple of DALIT Goddess English has been published in DLA, local evening daily Agra on 28th October 2010.

English is the most spoken language in the world and is spoken all over India. But can a language be treated as goddess and worshiped.

The credit of elevating English to the status of goddess goes to Lakhimpur Kheeri District in U.P. A temple of Goddess English has been constructed for encouraging Dalits to learn the language and attain proficiency in this.

Goddess English is Dalit deity with computer and a pen. A copy of Indian constitution is also placed before the deity. The Goddess wears hat and a gown. The temple of Dalit Goddess English was to be inaugurated on 25th October but has been postponed till November.

The temple is brain child of Dr. Chandra Bhan Prasad. He says that Dr. Amedkar favored English as national language but others opposed. This worked against Dalits who remained laggards in English whereas the upper caste studied in public schools and thus gained proficiency in English. The temple is expected to inspire Dalits to get proficiency in English.

Let us also worship Goddess English and be fluent in spoken and written English.

The Hindu way of life turns all useful persons, trees, animals and planets to deities and all useless and harmful things and objects to demons. Thus cow, Peepal tree, Sun, are worshiped. No doubt English is also very necessary for career development and so some people want to worship English also. This simply indicates the importance of English in India.

We need not bother about origin of ideas, language, objects etc. Even Lord shiva, Hindu God resides in kailash (China) and you need visa by chine government to visit and worship Him.

English is used by our people. Even though originated from England, English is ours. Toru Dutta composed 'shakuntala', Raja Goplachari wrote "Ramayana' and "Mahabharata' in English. English is as much ours as Cake and pastry. So, cheer up Goddess English- Jai English Devi. Let her shower her blessings on we- Indians.
